Jim Tuite

Jim Tuite is a VJ, video artist, photographer and curator based in the New Jersey/New York area. He has created videos and VJ performances for musicians from around the world. Tuite’s videos have been featured at the Index Art Center, Spectrum, Panoply Lab, The Rotunda, (le) poisson rouge, ab uno pluribus, Goodbye Blue Monday, ExperiMENTAL Music festivals, Omega Sound Fix Festivals I and II, Classwar Karaoke, Wild Torus and Certain Circuits magazine. He has been the curator for the ExperiMENTAL Music Festival 6 Film and Video event. His collaborators include: Pas Musique, theUse, JOHN 3:16, Rasplyn, Semisolid, [ówt krì], Damien Olsen, Lauds, Billy Cancel, rawmean, Lazurite, Pulcinella, The Strange Walls, Ping Pong, Semisolid, Not Blood Paint, Trinitron, Richard Lainhart, Bloater, The Jazzfakers, David First, among others. His influences include interactive video artists such as Gary Hill, Toni Dove, Grahame Weinbren; video artists such as Stan Brakhage; filmmakers including Alejandro Jodorowsky, David Lynch, Bela Tarr, Jean-Luc Godard, and Japanese cinema of the 1950s and 60s. experimental music and soundscapes, 20th Century Modernism, as well as the writings of Jean Baudrillard, Roland Barthes, Michel Foucault and Buddhist philosophy. Jim Tuite is an MFA graduate of School of Visual Arts in New York City.
