Born and based in the District of Columbia, Fat Kneel is a member of the city’s new vanguard of progressive beat makers and composers. Drawing inspiration from a myriad of sources, Kneel weaves rich melodic tapestries stretching across a framework of dense, hyper-expressive percussion. In a city with a rich heritage of go-go, jazz, and house music, Kneel is somewhat of an outlier, whose compositions very seldom lend themselves to simple categorization. Whether through dark, brooding synths or meticulously chopped samples of obscure, long forgotten media, listeners are left with something uniquely original yet eerily familiar.
