Alap Momin (oktopus) aka BkGdAudio started his first recording studio in 1993 in his parents basement. Over the past 20 years he has engineered, produced, and mixed all types of music ranging from hip hop to jazz to classical to country and beyond. Clients include: Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Black Hollies, Miss Tk and The Revenge, Lifetime, dälek, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Rye Coaltion, All Natural Lemon and Lime Flavors, Charles Hayward (This Heat), Faust, Starkweather, Endeavor, Ensign, Floorpunch, Heavy Trash, Jets To Brazil, Ghostigital, Yael Naem, Will Oldham, Oddateee, David Byrne, Yann Tiersen, Orka, Alan Vega, The Butterflies of Love, Ted Leo, Mark Mulcahy, Franz Nicolay, Eric Bachmann, and many more. Alap has also scored and mixed songs for films, video games, iPad apps, and commercials over the past decade including Lilith, The Guitar, Choke, My Beautiful World, Ferrari Activision Video Game, Rockport Shoes, AOL, Nabisco Wheat Thins, ABC Family, Nike, Sundance Film Festival, and more.

In 1995 Alap met Will Brooks and the two along with Joshua Booth started collaborating as experimental hip hop group dälek. The group released 7 full lengths and tons of 12"s and 7"s on various labels world wide including Gern Blandsten, Matador Records, Ipecac Recordings, Southern Records, Tigerbeat 6, HydraHead Industries, Staubgold, etc. They also toured the world for 15 years performing with acts such as De La Soul, KRS-1, Tool, Fantomas, Isis, John Zorn, Mike Patton, The Melvins, Crooked Fingers, Azure Ray, Moby, Prince Paul, Rahzel, The Roots, House Shoes, Trans Am, Melt Banana, Kanye West, Guns and Roses, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Amon Tobin, Sonic Youth, Mars Volta, Saul Williams, Morrissey, Flying Lotus, and many more.

In 2010, dälek split up and Alap began searching for a new sound and direction. He moved to Berlin for a couple years which led him into the vast world of club music. The past few years find Alap experimenting with his own take on everything from House to Juke to Vogue to Jock Jams to Dancehall. Stay tuned for BKGD Audio, Alap's first solo project, as well as Third Culture Kings, a collaboration with Jan Johannson from Glorybox which fuses everything from Leonard Cohen to the Velvet Underground/Jesus&Mary Chain to Giorgio Moroder and Afrika Bambaataa/Booty Bass. As eclectic as he's been from the beginning, 30 years of making music have expanded Alap's influences and sound even further leading to some very exciting new vibes!
